Princeton University Art Museum

In the Summer of 2023, I spent two months interning at the Princeton University Art Museum under the supervision of Chief Conservator Bart Devolder.

The mission of the Princeton /University Art Museum is to act as a museum, a library, and a teaching space.

Princeton has had an ongoing summer internship program – each intern works in a different museum department, including curatorial, education, development, information technology, marketing, collections services, publications, and retail operations. The program fosters interaction among interns; I participated in weekly discussions with museum staff across various departments.

In the conservation lab, I examined and treated three paintings and two frames (some items required minor treatment).

  • Ernest Lawson

Treatment of a double-sided oil on canvas painting by Ernest Lawson titled Morning Mists (1904)

  • The Perea Master

Examination and interpretation of a Spanish panel painting dated to c.1500. This project was also a collaborative investigation into provenance with a curatorial intern.
